Director's Meeting

The Director's Meeting is held on the second Thursday of each month at the Bedford County Administration Building. The meeting starts at 6:30pm. Meetings are open to the public.

District Staff

Currently, the District's office is staffed by the District Manager/Conservation Specialist, Conservation Specialist, and Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper. These individuals take care of the day-to-day business of the District and provide the technical assistance for programs the District administers. Training and continuing education are ongoing priorities for all of the District's employees. Nutrient management, agricultural waste management, pesticide safety, prescribed burn, cultural resources, threatened and endangered species, water system design, stream crossing design, heavy use area and travel lane design, soils, integrated pest management, agronomic practices, grazing management, and conservation planning are just a few of the areas District staff receive continued education or maintain certification in.

Richard P. Chaffin

Chaffin resides in the Forest area of Bedford County. He has been involved in beef cattle production, land trust work, and real estate development. His present activities include auctioneer, building contractor and member of the Lions Club.

Scott Baker

In addition to serving as an appointed director for the POSWCD, Scott has been the agricultural extension agent for Bedford since 1997.  While his primary Extension responsibility is in the area of livestock agriculture, Scott also provides educational programs in horticulture through a network of trained Extension Master Gardeners, pest management and agricultural economic development.  He received degrees in Animal Science from Cornell University and Virginia Tech.  Scott is a native of Pennsylvania and married to Jan.

Corey Crompton

Corey represents the Town of Bedford on the POSWCD; he was elected to the office for the 2008 - 2012 term and has been appointed for the current term. Corey is the Information Technology Manager for the Town of Bedford municipal government. Prior to his employment with the Town, he worked as a network and systems engineer and database analyst for numerous companies over 20 years including American Airlines, GE, USWeb, and Intuit Software. In his off hours, Corey enjoys playing guitar as a semi-professional musician. He is a 1984 graduate of the College of William and Mary.

Roger Bollinger

Roger was born and raised in western Pennsylvania. Thirty years ago Roger moved to Virginia to serve in the Navy and has been a Bedford resident for the past 19 years. He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity before serving on their board and is currently manager of the local Tractor Supply Store. He and his wife, Terri, have been foster parents for 11 years. They have a son, Ryne, and a daughter, Jessica. In his spare time, Roger enjoys photography and riding his motorcycle.

Keith B. Tuck

Keith lives in Moneta, Virginia. He is owner/operator of Tuck Farms, which is a cow/calf beef operation, where he implements rotational grazing and other conservation practices. He currently serves as an Associate Director for the POSWCD. Keith is a member of the Southern States Bedford Cooperative Board of Directors and he is a member of Radford Baptist Church, where he serves as a deacon. Keith and his wife, Holly, have four children, Erica; Andrew; Danielle; and Sarah. The children are involved with the Bedford County 4-H Livestock Club, where he serves as an adult volunteer.

Todd Kready

Todd grew up south of Richmond, Virginia, in Chesterfield County. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in 2003. Todd worked with the Virginia Department of Forestry for 8 years, and was VDOF's representative to the POSWCD for five years. Currently, he is the owner of Kready Consulting & Forest Land Management.

Glen Witt

Glen lives in Bedford, Virginia. He is a third generation farmer and currently manages a large cow/calf beef operation. His management of his livestock and land features many conservation practices including the implementation of rotational grazing. Glen currently serves as an Associate Director for the POSWCD. Glen and his wife, Missy, have two children, Joel and Adam who are both active helpers on their family’s farm, especially during hay season. Glen and his family are members of Wilson United Methodist Church of Bedford.
